You know what I want for my birthday? I want to be able to call myself a liberal. I don’t like the word libertarian. It just confuses most people, they have no clue what it means. It means that I believe in the absolute sovereignty of the individual and the sole purpose of government is to protect the rights of the individual. It means I believe in the writings of John Stuart Mill, John Locke, Adam Smith and FA Hayek. However the word liberal which used to describe these ideas has been hijacked by the Democratic party. People who reject the ideas of these men and instead believe the rights of the group, or the collective, outweighs the rights of the individual and the role of government is to protect and provide for the group at the expense of the individual. These are NOT liberal ideas. So I wish they would just call themselves the Left-Leaning Statist Party (as opposed to the the Right-Leaning Statist Party, aka the GOP) and let true liberals like me call themselves liberals.
Thats what I want for my birthday… but I’ll settle for a beer.

It was the final days of December, 1959. 16 men in a cell not big enough for 4 were all standing so 16 more could lay on the floor to try to get a few minutes of sleep. They were joined by a young boy no more than 12 or 13 years old, face bloody and beaten. His crime, trying to defend his father when the rifle squads came to murder him.
The cell door opened and 10 were called out, including the boy. Near the wall where the executions took place, he was ordered by his executioner to kneel. The brave boy replied, “If you’re going to kill me you’re going to have to do it the way you kill a man, standing, not like a coward, kneeling.” The executioner walked behind the boy, unholstered his pistol and shot him in the neck, nearly decapitating him.
The other prisoners shouted “assassins, miserable cowards” and many other things. The executioner turned toward the cell and emptied his magazine, killing and wounding numerous other prisoners still in their cell.
The executioner was Che Guivera. The “revolutionary” revered by so many celebrities and college students. Think about this the next time you see someone wearing a t-shirt with his image on it. Or better yet, push them down a flight of stairs!

The brain dead students at the University of Connecticut who shouted down Ann Coulter in front of a crowd of 2000 the other night make me sick. Who in the hell do these kids think they are? What gives them the right to decide what people can and cannot choose to say and hear?
Now I am the first to admit I think everything that spews from Ann Coulter’s mouth is complete bullshit. But I find what these little crybabies did yesterday despicable. If you can’t come up with an argument to defeat the idiotic crap she says, if your most intelligent comback is to start singing “Kyle’s mom’s a Bitch”, then it’s probably best you just drop out of school now and get a jump start on your destined career. By the time the moron who was singing next to you flunks out you can already be a night manager of Taco Bell.
You want to make a statement, great. Stand outside and protest peacefully. Try to get through to the lemmings that are going in to listen to her. But please for god’s sake put something intelligent on your sign. Don’t hold up a poster with a picture of Coulter with a swastika on her forehead or a Hitler mustache. Do you have any clue at all who the Nazi’s were. Have you ever read a history book? Ann Coulter is an idiot, that’s for sure. But she is not a Nazi… And she is certainly not Hitler. Twenty million people died defeating that son of a bitch and comparing people like Coulter or even Bush to him is so insulting. Here’s a novel idea. If you don’t want to hear what someone has to say, don’t go see them speak. Just stay in your dorm and pop in your Fahrenheit 911 DVD or maybe decide which Chi Guevara t-shirt you want to wear tomorrow. (Don’t get me started on that asshole)
